Load, effort, and difficulty are related—but not identical.
Strength is a practice.
What does intensity really mean? is not solved by finding one perfect number. Strength grows when you repeat a movement, create enough challenge, and leave room to perform the next set with intent.
Start below your maximum and let technique establish the ceiling. The best set is often the one that teaches you what to do next.
Make progress observable.
Keep the exercise, range, and effort clear enough to compare. Add a small amount of load, a rep, a cleaner position, or a more confident set when the current version is reliable.
If every session is a test, the log only tells you whether you survived. If sessions are practice, the log shows how capacity is being built.
Protect the quality.
Rest enough to make the next set meaningful. Stop a set when the intended movement changes dramatically, then use that information to plan the next exposure.
